Punk rock is a useful lesson for life.

Yes, hello!

I'm★wAppA★

(・∀<)☆yeah

Do you know about the skate punk genre?

(★>U<★)

I talked a little bit about psychedelic trance, which is one of my favorite music genres, the other day, but there is another music genre that I absolutely love.

(*˘︶˘*).。.:*♡

That's skate punk.

Skate punk is a subgenre of punk rock that originated in England.

(。・о・。)

Punk rock originally originated in England, but Skate Punk, the subject of this article, and similar genres such as Ska Punk and Pop Punk were developed in the United States. Origin.

(Here, we will broadly refer to it as skate punk)

It's hard to explain, but what skate punk is?

( ´ ᐞ `).。o

British classic punk rock (royal punk rock here refers to the Sex Pistols, The Clash, etc.) is mixed up with elements such as hardcore, rockabilly, ska, reggae, jazz, and country, making it even more popular. It has evolved into a melodic, freer, and fast-paced beat that gives off a sense of speed.

Simply put, it's probably something like this.

(.-`ω´-)ー

Representative bands include NOFX, RANCID, The Offspring, Penny Wise, Bad Religion, and Greenday. Blink-182, Sum 41, Mxpx, Less than jake, The Suicide Machines.. ..etc.

I think the most popular ones are the skate punk legends around here.

I listened to the CD as much as I could wear it out, and of course I covered it in my own band at the time.

(By the way, I'm a guitar vocalist)

(ノ˶>ᗜ<˵)ノ

That's why I love American skate punk culture.

❀(*´▽`*)❀

I also emulate California skate punk fashion.

It's a skater fashion that involves wearing pants at the waist or oversized clothing, but American skate punk is deeply related to surfing, skateboarding, and snowboarding.

Skate by Skate Punk is the skate of skateboarding.

That's what I mean.

Skate punk became a major movement in Japan about 30 years ago.

(In Japan, it was called Melocore by its own name)

Greenday's Dookie became a huge hit, a punk cover of Pennywise's Stand by me became a hit, and around the same time, skate punk legends like NOFX, RANCID, The Offspring, and Bad Religion all had big hits. At the time, there was no one around me who didn't know about it, and it was so popular that hip-hop was even more popular among street music.

That kind of skate punk.

In Japan, Hi-Standard is famous as a pioneer who spread skate punk in the country.

Speaking of Hi-Standard, drummer Tsune recently passed away.

The cause of his death is unknown, but it's a bit disappointing to think that the high school band that Japanese punk rock kids once admired will no longer be seen.

( ´◔‸◔` )

When Hi-Standard was still unknown, it was included in the American skate punk compilation album released by NOFX frontman Fat Mike's FAT WRECK CHORDS. There was only one band.

At that time, it was still from Fat Mike.

“This is no good.”

It seems like he was being taught what to do and what to do.

(꒪0꒪ノ)ノ彡

I mentioned earlier that skate punk is called melocore in Japan, but in Japan, skate punk and ska punk are also called melocore and skacore.

This is a term unique to Japanese people, and in the United States there are no such names as Melocore or Skacore.

(By the way, Melocore seems to be an abbreviation for melodic hardcore punk)

That's why I don't want to call skate punk "melocore."

NOFX and others, who are the pioneers of American skate punk, objected to this,

"We're punk rock."

As they say, there is still a gap when comparing authentic skate punk and Japanese skate punk.

Although there are differences in melody lines due to language differences.

Around me a while ago

"Melocore and punk rock are different."

There is a person from Japan who says that.

When I heard that,

"No, it's called punk rock in the real world, so there's no difference!"

...I wanted to make a tsukkomi (lol)

( ⑉¯ ꇴ ¯⑉ )

There was a time when the popularity of skate punk was waning.

I think it was about 15 years ago.

Until then, it was common for skate punk festivals to be held, and all the bands appearing at Summer Sonic were skate punk bands.

However, at some point, the popularity of skate punk began to decline, and even the biggest bands were forced to suspend their activities.

(ー"ー)n

Skate punk has been in the doldrums ever since, but recently it's been making a comeback.

Little by little, their popularity began to return, and major overseas bands that had been on hiatus resumed their activities.

Meanwhile, Machine Gun Kelly, who had been active primarily in hip-hop, turned to skate punk with the production of Blink-182's charismatic drummer Travis Barker.

The released album Tickets To My Downfall reached number one on the American hit charts.

This became the deciding factor, and the popularity of skate punk was revived.

This Machines gun Kelly song is pop, catchy, and friendly, and Kelly is super handsome!

I'll post a link to the album's signature song, so please give it a listen if you'd like.

Lastly, I would like to introduce two bands that I currently recommend.

The first one is Teenage Bottle Rockets.

A pop and catchy number from the American band Teenage Bottle Rockets, who became the signature band for FAT WRECK CHORDS.

Next up is BE LIKE MAX, a rising star in ska punk.

From Home away from home.

The light ska rhythm and exquisite melody line are the best match.

I think both bands are catchy and approachable.

So, this is a story about skate punk, which is now in season again.

See you again!
